Personally I just love Winamp, it's basic features and it's visual look are great. Also Winamp needs external codecs for some video formats, and for these and more: K-Lite (Mega) Codec Pack.įor music there is no better alternative, for videos there are. Sure it would be nice to have support for HD audio output through HDMI, blu-ray playback and so on but I have PowerDVD Ultra for that and even XBMC with AnyDVD. Then I could consider using it for videos as well. Winamp also needs better video library functions with support for movies and tv shows, subtitles comparable to KMPlayers, posters, logos, clearts, etc. Winamp also has pretty good video playback support but it's features can't match others out there like Mediaplayer Classic, VLC or the KMPlayer which is my personal favorite for videos along with XBMC. Sure everyone won't like the interface and personally I don't like the new Bento skins but instead use the older "Winamp Modern" modern skin. I always keep getting back to it after trying many others. For music, podcasts, ripping and mobile device synchronization it's just what I need. Winamp has been my favorite music player since the 2.x versions.
